As you may know, Amazon has recently been collecting sales tax on their online sales. Amazon is now in the WR sales tax system and the City should be receiving its first sales tax collection payment from Amazon in Jan/2017.
In speaking with the City of Arvada, it is estimated that Amazon sales tax collection may reach $500,000 in 2017. I will be tracking this new revenue source to see what Wheat Ridge collects over the course of 2017. It should be interesting!
The issue with ZIPs for this sales tax collection is 80212, 80214, 80215 and 80004. These are the other ZIPs that are in the City of Wheat Ridge besides 80033. Make sure that purchases that are delivered to your home are taxed via Wheat Ridge sales tax and collected by Wheat Ridge. Some retailers/vendors are not aware of this.
